Old-Fashioned Frosting

This is the recipe that I use most often when making icing.  I know that there are other tastier/prettier recipes out there, but it's easy and quick.

What really gives this plain icing it's flavor is the vanilla that you add.  Also a tip for the butter, if you are wanting a white frosting, then use white butter with clear vanilla extract.  I used the brown extract and it gave the icing an off-white color, but still was pretty white.
The blue cast is only because of the bowl I made the frosting in.
1 cup butter (softened)
8 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract or other flavoring

Cream together half of the sugar and all the other ingredients until creamy.
Gradually add in the rest of the sugar.
